China is located on the western side of Asia. Ancient civilizations settled in between two rivers, the Yellow river and the Yangtze river. China's geography also includes deserts, mountain ranges, canyons, and hills. Ancient China inhabited and controlled this area over a span of 4,000 years.
Ancient China laid the groundwork for many aspects of modern day civilization, making its history crucial for understanding how humans learned and grew as a society. They developed rich culture with their beautiful art and literature, but also with their religions, like Confucianism, Daoism, and Buddhism. Most importantly was their inventions, creating technology such as paper, silk, and gunpowder which shaped the way ancient China's economy and warfare prospered.
