Introduction
Trade has been an important aspect of society since the beginning of humanity. In history, the strongest civilizations were those who had valuable resources that were widely fought over. This system worked for most of history, until a better system was proposed, the coin system. The coin system allowed for an organized economy and improved the previous trading system. This allowed for the dominance of coin focused civilizations. Although this is an ancient invention, it's still used today, along with paper and digital money.

Coins have had a huge impact on the world, big enough to be seen even today. First, coins were one of the first examples of a way to track the economy. Coins could be placed into a bank, counted, and distributed. This allows for the economic cycle to exist. Coins create a way of pay, and payment. Another impact of the creation of coins is the enhancement of the trading system. Coins themselves have a set value, unlike the many resources traded previously. This made barter in the fertile crescent much easier than before. Although this idea of a coin system was new to the ancient civilizations, today these ideas are seen as common sense. This shows the longevity of coins, and how they will be seen for the rest of time, in some shape or form.
Coins created in the Fertile Crescent were not made from native resources, rather metal derived from Spanish mines. Civilizations could get these metals cheap, as there was an abundance of them in these Spanish mines. Although the coins were made from outside resources, they were usually minted in the Fertile Crescent. These coins were similar to today's coins, but had one obvious difference, the designs. These coins usually depicted political ads, displayed power, contained symbols, imagery, and spread religious beliefs. These coins were often used to educate or spread propaganda among citizens of a civilization.
