Feudalism
Feudalism had a major role in the Middle Ages. The feudal system stems from the need for protection, it was like a transaction from the peasants to the lords. At the bottom were the serfs and peasants. They would work the land and share their produce with the lords. The lords would watch over the land and tax the people because they were providing protection for them. The king is at the top of the feudal system. He would give out land to loyal lords and vessels. The king would get most of the taxes that the lords collected and spend that money on the military, the needs of the country, and their personal spending. One problem of the feudal system was the fact that the classes were very divided and unequal. Feudalism was a large part of the daily lives of the people of medieval Europe.
