Leonardo da Vinci design began in 1487 for the armored car, at the time the duke of Milan, Ludovico Sfroza asked him to make armored chariots that would intimidate the enemy and help his soldiers conquer without stopping. Leonardo da Vinci began working on the armored car, it would use a crank system, would have a 360 degree field of view, carry cannons, and would be placed on a platform that was covered in metal plates. Leonardo Da Vinci's armored car did have flaws though, these include weak wheel, would sag in soft terrain, it would stumble in mountainous terrain, the peepholes didn't function properly, and it was very slow.
During its time, the armored car didn't really have an impact on its civilization, but it laid the foundations down for modern day tanks. Leonardo Da Vinci would eventually abandon the project due to flaws of his design. Even if his design had almost no flaws it would only work in Piannura Padanna valley in italy
A modern Abrams X tank (4)
The invention of the tank was the modern-day influence of Leonardo da Vinci's armored car. the first tank ever produced was Little Willie in 1915 during WW1, during this time, war was changing, and both sides of the war were using tanks. Today armored warfare is still changing in the form of advances in technology, for example, the Abrams X, the Abrams X is America's new development in armored warfare.
So in conclusion, Leonardo da Vinci was ahead of his time due to his design impacting modern day civilizations with the design impacting modern warfare, with the advancements of technology drones might replace the tank but what we can tell is that the tank will remain important to warfare. like in the Russian Ukraine war, small drones are very capable of destroying tanks with ease, and as a plus drones are cheaper and have the same effectiveness.
