Charlotte has been Charlottesville NOW's chapter president for many years now. She, along with a board of other women, organize the meetings of NOW. Along with regular board meetings, she organizes NOW's involvement in marches/rallies, sponsored monthly community discussions, and donations given out to candidates by NOW.
Since the beginning of her involvement with NOW, Charlotte has focused her goals towards the National Organization for Women. To her, NOW has provided her with a platform to learn about who she is as a person. She's learned how to be less shy, and her public speaking has improved massively. Throughout the years as a NOW member, Charlotte has benefitted from leading meetings and events sponsored by the National Organization for Women.

One of my major highlights in my internship with the National Organization for Women was when I got the chance to write an article for the monthly newsletter that NOW sends out. I was able to write the article about youth that influence activism, and I chose to write about Greta Thunburg, as I had learned about her plan to sail across the globe to attend the United Nations Climate Action Summit in 2019. The experience of writing about climate justice was very fun and it gave me the chance to introduce my community service mentor to my topic before she became my community service mentor.
My favorite experience was participating in the International Climate Strike Rally in Charlottesville. I got to witness speeches given by many different people, including children as young as seven-years-old talking about how they feel about the climate crisis. While there, I also got to experience mass youth movement in action, with people bringing their children to teach them about where their future is headed. The age difference in the crowd was extremely impressive and showed hope for the future.
I would also like to share my most challenging experience I had with NOW. While working Pride, I got the chance to meet people from varying backgrounds and work with members of the NOW Board. The people that I met with were extremely diverse and expanded my knowledge about personality types. I also got to experience my first Pride Festival as an attendee because of the way the event was run. Overall, the Charlottesville Pride Festival was an extremely fun and educating experience for me.
