"My buildings will be my legacy, they will speak for me long after I am gone" - Julia Morgan
About Me
Hello! My name is Aden Melton and I am a Senior (Class of 2023) at Fluvanna County High School. I spend a lot of my time in a variety of places, whether it is at school, in my studies, my home, with friends, with family, or at my job (Chick-fil-A Pantops).
Some of my extracurriculars include but are not limited to basketball, pickleball, and my part-time job at Chick-fil-A. I do participate in a few clubs and organizations at my school; I am one of the student leaders of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Club, a member of the Beta Club, and one of the Student Class Council Ambassadors for the Fluvanna Student Government Association. These clubs/organizations have helped me develop leadership skills, increase my ability to volunteer, and to express my feelings on certain topical issues.
I focus a great amount of my time (outside of my job) on my academics and currently I am working my way into finishing my Associate's Degree in a semester at Piedmont Virginia Community College and transferring to the University of Virginia to get a Master's in Civil Engineering and Construction Engineering & Management.
I interned with Setty and Associates, a systems engineering company, and learned a great deal about how to make the interior of buildings safe and healthy for everyone.
My community service project was focused on a local trail system. The intended impact of renovating and constructing structures on these trails is to provide a safer and easier hike for everyone, of any age and/or physical ability.
My research paper focuses on integration and collaboration between construction and nature. By studying this challenge, I hope to learn more about improvements in building design, environmentally safe practices, and ways to make sure our buildings and nature stays stable for a long time
