They originated from the northern lands of Scandinavia and were well known for their infamous raids of vulnerable monasteries and exploration. Vikings were also known as norsemen because they lived in the harsh cold north. They contributed inventions like iconic Longboats, various deadly weapons, historical literature, forms of government, and metal-working techniques.
