The Inca Empire resided on the Andes mountains in modern day Peru. The Inca Empire started in 1400 CE, however multiple villages lived in the region as early as 1100 CE. The Inca empire fell in 1533 CE after colonization from Spain. Because of the Inca empire's position in the Andes mountains, there are many chasms and lowlands in the area. These lowlands created sprawling river systems which were used extensively by the Inca empire for farming. The Inca empire was an incredibly successful civilization who invented many things from road systems all the way to mummification.

Inca was the largest empire at that time and it is the largest empire in pre-columbian America. In order for Inca to sustain this large size they needed to invent ways to sustain it, communicate with it, protect it, and expand it. Inca was an extremely advanced civilization compared to other nearby empires and kingdoms. The Inca had to conquer these many kingdoms to become as large as they were at their peak. One of the main things Incans are recognized for is their architecture. They are also vastly recognized for the agricultural techniques and how they used their land and environment to their advantage to thrive.
