What is Civil Services?
The civil service system is an invention created by the Ancient Chinese. It uses merit based hiring to recruit officials to work under the government. Using a merit based system of hiring makes cirtain that only the best fit for the spot will be chosen.
Civil services was an invention by the Ancient Chinese civilization created to help allow better social mobility in their government system. Before the civil service system, China had a sytem of inheritance where jobs and postitions moved through the family much like a monarchy. The invention of civil services hired people who were more qualified for the job rather than people who were next in line.
Why it was Important
The civil service system was important because of the strenth of the people in it. Only the people with the best skills and highest intellegance are usually chosen. People with the best qualities make the government strong leaving little to no flaws.
The Effect of Civil Services
Civil services had a big impact on not just ancient China, but many countries around the world today. Other countries adapted the idea of using the merit based system that the Chinese had originally started. The biggest impacts of the civil services examinations were using meritocracy, allowing social mobility, protection against government corruption, and a better buacracy with the chain of command.
