EMPLOYMENT LAW
John started his career at one of the largest employment law practices in the Country. After moving to Wilmington, he started his own practice after observing a need for an employment law specialist in the area. John has experience representing both employees and employers with their legal needs.
John provides representation to employees who have been subject to discrimination on the basis of race, sex, disability, age, or subject to an unlawful retaliatory termination. John is well versed in the various federal and state employment laws including:
Title VII
The Americans with Disabilities Act
The Age Discrimination in Employment Act
The Families with Medical Leave Act
The North Carolina Wage and Hour Act, and
The North Carolina Retaliatory Employment Discrimination Act.
Although John now spends most of his time representing employees, John can also represent businesses of all sizes from employment related claims. John has defended dozens of employers against charges of discrimination from the EEOC and in state and federal court. John can also help employers draft employment policies, such as nondiscrimination and disciplinary policies, which can help them avoid legal liability in the first place.
Additionally, John can help both employees and employers navigate issues involving non-compete/ non-solicitation agreements, confidentiality agreements, and matters implicating trade secrets.
