The virtual library is open!
Students in grade 3 - 8 and staff will be using the online catalog to browse and search the library collection, place holds and save favorites, and view their currently checked out titles. The brief tutorial videos below will walk you through logging in and getting started using the online catalog to borrow books this school year! Once Ms. McCall has pulled requests, you will receive an email and can pickup your book(s) at the assigned book exchange cart (in front of the MEMS Library for in-person learners and , in the MEMS front entryway for distance learners and families). Returns may be placed in the return bin on the bottom of the cart.
Students and staff will not be accessing the physical library for book exchanges at this time while the library is used for student groups during the Phase 1, 2 and 3 school day. Ms. McCall will review how well the current system meets the community's need and make changes as needed. Questions and Answers about fall 2020 book borrowing from the MEMS community:
Q: How frequently will books be pulled?
A; At the least, requested books will be pulled on a weekly basis,. I would love to be able to pull books as frequently as every day and will do so as soon as I have access to the library at all times. That doesn't seem likely until later this fall.
Q: Can all grades borrow books, even if it's not a library UA rotation?
A: Yes! I am still creating and updating student accounts for K-2 students. Families can still search the catalog to locate books you're interested in without logging in, so find what you'd like, then email me with the titles if your student is in grades K-2 and you're unable to log in.
Q: I'm having trouble with the catalog! Help?
A: I'm always happy to help out via email requests as a backup if you can't find what you need or something just doesn't work. My response time may be longer now that I'm with in-person learners M, T, Th, F during Phase 1, 2 and 3 this fall. Q: I'm having trouble getting logged in.
A: If the Google button doesn't appear or work for you, each staff and student can type in their catalog username and password instead.
