In the "Mythology Remix & Tragedy Mashup" project, students were challenged to become modern storytellers by adapting a classic myth or tragedy for a contemporary audience. The core of the project required them to select a foundational story, such as The Odyssey or Romeo and Juliet , pair it with a specific tragic element like a character's fatal flaw (hamartia) or the theme of fate vs. free will , and then creatively reimagine these components in a modern setting. To present their final creation, students had to research and learn how to use a specific digital publishing platform depending on their chosen format: those who wrote a dramatic scene had to learn how to record a performance and publish it on YouTube ; those who designed a graphic story had to use a website like GlobalComix or Wordpress ; and those who produced a podcast had to learn how to script, record, and publish their audio file on Spotify.
In our project our group was attempting to retell the myth of Pyramus and Thisbe by expressing dramatic irony throughout a graphic novel that we made. Our novel is about a man named Leroy and a woman named Judith who love each other, but are separated by the Berlin Wall.
In our project we were attempting to make a war agansist Russia and USA.Romeo and Juliet or in are story John and Anna. They were each one side john being USA and Anna being Russia.John crashed his plane and Anna found him.Anna found him and they fell in love in a snap. From there it is history.
We were attempting to build a story based on blind trust. The element that we chose was a tragic flaw. We used Canva to build a comic using the best images possible. The AI generator gave us images, and it was able to make every picture similar. The blind trust stands out because of the addition of the Sirens. The main reason we chose blind trust is because we have to always know what you are doing and you are putting your trust into.
Our project is a modern parody rather than a modern reinterpretation. We set out to show how some people are more unlucky than others by showing that John went through a series of unlucky events.
We are attempting to turn Theseus and the Minotaur into a modern day story of a guy losing his wife getting too focused on losing the locust rather than his wife. We showed his recklessness and forgetfulness in this story by creating a podcast with foreshadowing of this problem through a court scene.
We wrote this podcast to compare a school drama, which we called "The Social Assassination," to the Fall of Troy because they both have a downfall caused by too much hubris, or extreme pride. In the ancient story, the Trojans' pride in their walls and overconfidence made them ignore the threat of the wooden horse, leading to their total destruction. Our story is similar because Adrian's hubris and his crazy pride about the spelling bee made him seek revenge and ruin Martin's social life until he felt like his walls had fallen, but that ended up setting Martin free from his bullying. We chose to connect them this way to show how major, life-ruining pride is a tragic flaw that causes a downfall, whether it's an epic city or just a high school reputation. It proves that excessive pride always leads to losing everything, which is why Adrian's revenge ultimately failed when Martin stopped caring.
Our group attempted to modernize the written story of "The Odyssey" by Homer into an audio of a story of a football player going to jail and having to work to get back to the NFL. The first major hurdle we faced was to take elements from the original story into those that would work in the story we were trying to create. After we had built the house from the studs of The Odyssey, it was smooth sailing. All we had to do was assemble the puzzle by putting everything into a script and recording. Once we had finished recording, our editor but the audio into CapCut to enter sound effects and finalize the project.
The story of Big Gloves Bruce was made in a podcast form. It allows the actors to give an emotional performance while leaving parts of the story up for interpretation to the audience. Our group attempted to modernise the story of Theseus and the Minotaur. The story of Big Gloves Bruce powerfully demonstrates hubris, the destructive pride that leads to a person’s downfall. After rising from nothing through grit and mentorship, Bruce’s success blinds him to the humility and discipline that once defined him. When fame and attention replace hard work, he dismisses Arnie’s guidance and believes himself untouchable. His arrogance grows — mocking opponents, chasing status, and trusting a shallow new trainer who values image over integrity. This unchecked pride leads Bruce to neglect his craft and ultimately to physical and moral collapse in the ring. His shattered knee becomes a symbol of his own ego breaking — a painful reminder that greatness without humility inevitably self-destructs.
In our project we attempted to make a modern version of thesues and the minotaur. We did this by replacing the threat of the minotaur with a less menacing challenge, we also modernized the setting making it a college campus. We also used a more modern version of communication
