This page provides an overview of local day programs. Day programs are care services for individuals that will not be able to gain supported or independent employment, and allows these individuals to participate in the community, build relationships, and receive quality care when guardians may be at work or otherwise occupied.
Bethesda Farm is a day program where adults with disabilities can work on hobby crafts, jewelry making, quilting, vocational skills, community inclusion, farm-based activities and so much more. The program strives to make everyone feel included and to build relationships, along with listening and loving them unconditionally.
NEXT is a weekday program for adults affected by disability in the West Michigan community. This program is designed to support individuals with a 5:1 staff ratio. They offer a robust scholarship program to help families afford this program.
NEXT offers a comprehensive and specialized adult program committed to whole person growth and development. Their wide array of programs fosters growth in independence, vocational skills, and community engagement. Using a person-centered approach, our experienced staff help participants identify goals and natural talents that can be developed.
Heritage Home's Daytime Enrichment Program, based in Allendale and Coopersville, offers person centered community based services that are enjoyable, safe, and physically and socially enriching. This program provides supports to adults that have significant ongoing therapeutic, medical and sensory needs. The supports may be provided in the program facility or in community settings such as libraries, museums, parks, universities, churches, and other venues of personal interest. The Daytime Enrichment Program was developed to have the ability to accommodate people using wheelchairs and require or enjoy use of adaptive equipment such as a tilt table, therapy platform, personal hydraulic lift, sensory swings (indoor and outdoor), and need close assistance for safe eating, seizure disorders, or other particularly high attention to individualized sensory and safety needs.
Pioneer resources provides two different day programs for individuals. The typical program day is Monday through Friday from 9:00am – 3:00pm with transportation provided, and it is based on authorization from Health West or Community Mental Health.
Pioneer Resources’ Group Community Living Supports program is a place for individuals to learn, grow and socialize while gaining confidence and empowerment toward full inclusion throughout the community. Participants gain knowledge through a combination of learning and life experiences with an improved ability to frequent public settings. Trained staff support participants through communication and socialization, community exploration, educational opportunities, health and wellness activities, and music and movement.Through a variety of opportunities and hands-on activities, participants in this program can expect to build relationships, improve interactions, increase life skill development, as well as any other goals that are determined through the person centered planning process.
Pioneer Resources’ Skill Building program is a model of community-based meaningful activities that teach concepts such as attendance, task completion, independence, and problem solving to prepare individuals for competitive integrated employment. Individual goals are based on the specific, identified needs and desires of the person served. Our well trained staff support participants through volunteering, business tours, job readiness activities, computer skills, communication and soft skill development, and task completion and following directions. Participants spend their days utilizing the community as their classroom at various work and volunteer sites, provided opportunities for independence, inclusion, and participation throughout the community.
Ikus runs Indian Trails Summer Camp, which offers day camps through the summer, as well as respite day care throughout the year. Individuals can sign up for two weeks of camp per summer. Individuals with disabilities ages 5-26 can sign up. There are three different levels of care, so individuals with different levels of need can be cared for. It is a great way to have a few weeks of care during the day, while having fun and making friends!
