Helmsburg is fortunate to have an amazing group of community partners who are actively engaged in STEM curriculum and activities. Brown County Schools is proud to have compiled an impressive list of Alumni from several career sectors who are willing to come to our classrooms in person or virtually to speak about career opportunities or collaborate with hands-on activities. HES is also a proud member of the World of Work family and uses Beable everyday in our classrooms to have career connected learning available to all students K-5. This learning platform has given students K-5 an insight to a world of career choices. Students at Helmsburg have access to and participate in a variety of extended learning activities related to STEM. A Robotics Team, led by Darcy Rund, Jodie Silbaugh, and Mark Stidham meets weekly after school for students in grades 4-5 and will compete in regional competitions for the second time this school year. A Bots Coding Club led by Kirstie Tiernan and the 4-H Purdue Extension Program are also one of the many after school opportunities we provide our students. A wide variety of STEM and career focused clubs including, Mini Mondays for K-2, Science Bowl, Math Bowl, BizTown, Field Trips, Guest Speakers, and PTO Sponsered Events with a STEM focus are available to every students K-5.
Helmsburg Elementary invites collaboration with local community members to enhance engagement and advance our STEM initiatives. Our advisory board consists of dedicated individuals from the Brown County community who are focused on fostering a positive influence in our school and STEM programs. HES values input from community partners and utilizes this feedback to develop a STEM curriculum that is both informed and relevant.

HES collaborates with local community members to investigate careers in STEM and offers students chances to discover The World of Work through the Beable platform.
