The SHC is a medical student group that provides confidential peer counseling to medical students and PLMEs on a range of issues: mental health support, navigating academic challenges, mistreatment, and any other difficulties we face throughout our medical training.
We plan a number of initiatives to bolster student wellness, including a series of Wellness Workshops to decrease the stigma and barriers to mental health care, student-led SPACE sessions to debrief and build camaraderie, and sexual harassment and bystander training, among many more.
The SHC aims to keep a pulse on medical student well-being, provide support accordingly through confidential peer counseling, educate about available resources, and advocate for student mental health.
We consist of the following committees: Community Service, Funwind, Med Ed, Social Media, Skills Workshops, and Vulnerability as Strength.
