The Math Teaching Fellows Program
Overview
The Math Teaching Fellows program is a semester-long certificate program that is completed alongside a UTA-appointment in one of the Math department's introductory calculus or linear algebra courses. Participants will work through a number of online modules that build up to live discussion sessions facilitated by the program's instructors. The program culminates with critical observations of teaching and the development of a written statement of teaching philosophy.
After completing the Math Teaching Fellows program, participants will be prepared to:
facilitate classroom activities grounded in evidence-based pedagogy to promote equitable learning opportunities;
promote the development of growth mindset in their students;
assist instructors in developing strategies to promote equity throughout the course;
reflect critically on their views of teaching and learning mathematics;
express their teaching philosophy and experiences in a manner that emphasizes evidence and self-reflection.
Math Teaching Fellows participants will be given UTA appointments and, upon successful completion of the program, will be given priority for UTA positions over applicants who have not completed the program.

Note that in addition to the Math Teaching Fellows programming, participants must hold a UTA position in an introductory calculus or linear algebra course, or as a tutor in the Math Resource Center. The expected workload for such UTA positions is 6-8 hours a week and admission into the Teaching Fellows program is contingent upon the applicant being eligible for student employment.
