I'm Jordan and I use he/him/his pronouns. I'm currently in my third-year at Brown as a Tamarkin Assistant Professor. I received my Ph.D. from the University of Alberta in 2018. The University of Alberta is in my hometown: Edmonton, Canada. It's also where I picked up my love for running---especially in cold temperatures!
My research interests lie in Algebraic Geometry and certain applications to theoretical physics. Since starting my position at Brown, I've also gained an interest in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL).
I'm excited to teach you linear algebra this semester, and I hope you enjoy your time in this course.
My name is Zhehui Liang, a fifth-year phd student in maths department, and can call me Jerry for abbreviation. I am currently doing research on harmonic analysis and spectral theory, under instruction of Professor Sergei Treil. One thing that maths attracts me is the application of maths in our real life, i.e., in financial market or genes prediction. The process of digging into a difficult maths problem also enjoys me, and practice my preserveness and logic preciseness.
I am currently a sixth year graduate student (you may call me Zhimeng). I mainly work on PDE. I think teaching is very effective and joyful opportunity to share my knowledge and experience of math. Hope we can work together and have a nice semester.
My name is Troy (he/him/his). I am a third-year graduate student in math. It is my pleasure to be your TA this semester. I believe we will enjoy the process of learning this interesting subject. Do not hesitate to ask me any questions.
Hi! I'm Claudia Yun and I use she/her/hers pronouns. I'm a fourth year graduate student under the supervision of Melody Chan. My research interests include algebraic geometry and combinatorics. I have always enjoyed teaching math. I like sharing math idea with students and see their eyes light up; I often find myself reaching a deeper understanding of the material in the process as well. In my free time, I like to rock climb, play the piano, and hang out with my cat Figaro.
Hello! I'm Henry (they/them), and I'm a senior mathematics concentrator. I love helping students develop confidence and enthusiam for math, and I'm really looking forward to working with you! I also work on campus as an RPL.
My name is Amelia, I use she/her pronouns, and I am a sophomore studying math and international public affairs. I took as much maths as I felt like I could handle last year (540, 750, 1010, 1530), and this year I hope I can do the same! My favorite useless online resource is the comments section of OEIS (On-Line Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences) entry A000012, and I love it when math is as fun and powerful, and even sometimes as silly, as A000012.
My name is Herbert (he/him/his) and I am a rising juinior studying Applied Math. I love how math can be applied to anything from classifying Zebrafish patterns to uncovering the mysteries of outer space (and I am happy to discuss both).
Hi! I'm Josh, a third-year from Portland, Oregon, and I use he/him/his pronouns. I spend my first year-and-a-half at Brown taking classes in the physics concentration before realizing that physics is not the right fit. I'm now concentrating in both math and economics. I like math because mathematicians provide the tools and models that economists then use to study interesting world problems. Outside of class, I'm involved in economics research as well as the Bonner program. Outside of Brown, I spend my free time racking up miles road cycling. I look forward to working with you all this term!
