We will be accepting submissions for this first episode through out the Summer, so go ahead and send us your submission!What is one thing First Years should know about Brown?
What have you learned that may be helpful to a first year student? Some things this could be but is not limited to:
a life hack for acclimating to living in a dorm
a tip about getting the classes you want
your favorite nook in the Rock to study in
a resource you think they should know about
an observation about the institution or community. This could be praise or critique
what it is like to be someone like you at Brown
your favorite dish at the Ratty
your favorite student group
a secret
If you are a staff or faculty member consider sharing something like:
what drew you to working at Brown
your favorite thing about working with students
what is an observation you have about students at Brown
a resource you wish you saw more students using
tips from shaping your own college experiences that might translate
etc
Record Your Litmus Message!
No fancy recording equipment needed! We have got you covered :)For those who are hearing impaired or otherwise not comfortable speaking for any reason, you can also type your submission in the google form below, and we will use voiceover to include you in the podcast. We will also produce and publish transcripts of all our podcast episodes.
Get Ready to Record:
Think about your answer (keep it short and sweet, under 2 minutes!)
Find a quiet place to record (maybe even in a closet or in a car)
or quickly build a space using materials that absorb sound (like under a blanket fort, or big pillows)
If you intend to submit anonymously, please do not include your name in your recording, as we publish the raw audio files for increased transparency.
Easiest Recording Option: Laptop or Computer
Use our online audio recorder to record your answer. Once you have you will be able to download the audio file and submit it via the google form below.
Instructions:
once you have finished, listen back and if you like your litmus message, download the audio file to your desktop or downloads folder.
If not, re-record your message until you are happy with it
Have the file ready to upload via the google form below.
Best Quality Recording Option: Smartphone
Did you know your smartphone can be an excellent recording device? You can get podcast level quality with a few tips and tricks:
Hold the phone 45 degrees away from your face and about 8 inches from your mouth
record your litmus message using the "voice memo" or any other recording app on your smartphone
share it with yourself via email or other means to transfer the file onto your computer so that you upload it via the google form below.
