The "Welcome to the Neighborhood" alumni event aims to welcome recent graduates and new members while also encouraging less engaged alumni to reengage. This inclusive event provides an opportunity to reconnect with alma mater and former classmates and learn about new developments and initiatives within the alumni network. The organizers hope to create a welcoming environment encouraging all alumni to participate and engage with the broader community. In addition, the event will also provide resources for educating alumni about the club's mission, goals, and activities.
There's no pressure to design a new event (although creativity is always welcome). Consider reframing existing events with the angle of getting new to the neighborhood or unengaged “new to the Brown neighborhood.” Remember, many will be new to your area and looking for community, advice, and new places to explore.

Fall is the best time to frame an event with this theme; many new grads relocate in the summer and fall.
You can work within your Club or regional community to select a date, time, (virtual) location, and event planner for the event.
If your city has public transport, is your event location easily accessible?
Remember that many new grads tend to live in the city properly, and getting a ride or driving to a suburban location could be a barrier.
If your event is at a bar or restaurant, what’s the crowd like? Remember, an appealing setting for you might be different for all age groups.
Make your registration page in the alumni volunteer platform at least a month before your event; 6 weeks is best to begin marketing.
Remember these alums are early in their careers or continuing their education, so they’re likely on a budget. Consider:
tiered pricing, with free admission for new grads, with a discount for alumni up to five years out
providing a perk for recent graduates, like a drink ticket, swag, or a free plus-one
You will provide the invitation content and create and send the invitation. Here are a few tips for creating your invitation:
Young alumni will want to see themselves represented. If you have photos from your events that include young alumni, use them in your invitation. Also, consider designating a recent grad to co-host the event and sign off on the invitation.
Be concise. Across age ranges, attention spans are short, with readers skimming an email for under ten seconds. Remember, you can always link out to more detailed information on the registration page.
Aim for a conversational tone and a subject line that inspires action.

You can communicate with all alumni via BRAVO and the club's other communication and social media vehicles. We recommend doing separate emails to the new alumni class for at least one of the emails.
The alumni clubs team sends a standard "event box" with basic branded materials that should last a club through the fiscal year. However, we also help the club acquire items for special seasonal programming throughout the year. These extra items are at the club's expense. Also, clubs who have requested an official club logo received the digital images to use to print club-branded material.
