Banding Together for Change 

The Brown Gives Battle of the Bands proudly supports the United Way of Rhode Island (UWRI), an organization committed to improving lives across our state. Proceeds from this event directly fund UWRI’s impactful, community-based programs focused on: 

• Education: Expanding access to quality learning beyond the classroom, closing achievement gaps, and supporting lifelong learning for children and youth. 

• Financial Stability: Helping Rhode Islanders build economic independence by connecting over 200,000 people annually to essential services through 211, investing in affordable housing, expanding job training—especially for multilingual learners—and supporting women- and minority-owned businesses.

• Health & Wellness: Increasing access to mental health services and promoting community-based programs that support physical and emotional wellbeing.

• Racial Equity: Addressing systemic inequities through local programs, advocacy, and policy change—ensuring equal opportunity for all.
