Studying Intercultural Competence means learning to use the knowledge, skills and attitudes you have from your study of languages and cultures to challenge prejudices, build alliances and create a more peaceful world.
The Certificate in Intercultural Competence (the CIC) is offered through Brown's Center for Language Studies.

LANG 0800 - offered every semester
LANG 1800 Capstone Seminar in Intercultural Competence (0.5 credit) offered in the spring semester
Language Study Electives
2 courses at the GRMN0300 level or higher
Area Perspectives Elective
1 additional GRMN course or one from a variety of disciplines (history, linguistics, anthropology, IAPA, etc) that relates to German
Experiential Learning Opportunity

Declaration
Start taking courses that count toward the certificate at any time but you'll declare the certificate when you are in you 5th or 6th semester. Use ask.brown.edu to declare. Please go to degree progress > declarations > certificates to enroll!
