Our annual commencement and reunion reception took place on Saturday, May 28th, 2022. With the support of our friends at the LGBTQ Center and Alumni Relations we were able to set up a welcoming space during the busy weekend to connect with each other and celebrate the graduates joining our alumni family. We also collectively celebrated the announcement of the new location for the LGBTQ Center! During the event, Vice President for Campus Life, Eric Estes, delivered our collective message of gratitude to Katie and Brent Gledhill P'22 for their generous gift.

Stonewall House

Thanks to the generous donation of Katie and Brent Gledhill P'21, the LGBTQ Center will have a new home this fall and will be named Stonewall House. The building located at 22 Benevolent Street is currently under renovation. Construction began in the fall of 2021.

During the TBGALA/BAPA Reception, guests were able to see a preview of the new space which will include a lounge space, office space, multipurpose space, and program space. The new house is going to be transformational for the Center, it will be a visible, warm and inviting space for our students to study, hang out, build community, and provide peer support.

On Thursday, May 26th, 2022 the LGBTQ Center celebrated its second annual Lavender Graduation Ceremony. All students graduating with any degree were invited to participate and receive a rainbow tassel and rainbow cord. The ceremony is an opportunity for any student who identifies as LGBTQIA+ and may or may not be open about their identity with their family to celebrate and be celebrated as part of the Brown community. The program featured speakers, performances, and the gifting of rainbow tassels and cords to each graduate. Alumni, Staff, faculty, and students who were not graduating were also invited to attend to celebrate the graduates.
