Founded in 2013, the Brown-RISD Aikido Club is excited to promote the art of Aikido in the greater Brown and RISD community. Aikido, a Japanese marital art, provides students with the opportunity to learn both self defense and safe falling skills. In addition, as both a club and a dojo, every student will have the opportunity to demonstrate their progress to their peers each semester.
The Brown-RISD Aikido Club additionally invities an instructor and hosts an annual fall seminar that takes place around the end of October. Members are also invited to an annual spring break trip to Aikido in Fredericksburg where students will eat, sleep, and train as a live-in student for one week.
