Teams should present analytical thinking, business acumen, teamwork, presentation skills, time management, creativity in competions.
Precise makeup of team will depend on question(s) being asked in competition, but key roles include:
Market Researcher
Ability to synthesize information in a way that helps your team members complete their respective duties.
Should be the go-to-person when you need a specific number from a reliable source.
Data Analyzer
Someone who knows how to look at a number and consider all of the potential variables involved.
Visual Designer
Critical that you have a team member who understands the importance of color, shape, and placement in a PowerPoint
Team Coordinator
An outgoing, extrovert kind of person who can think on their feet well.
This person makes sure everyone completes their tasks on time.
Having at least one individual with a finance and/or business background on each team is very helpful.
Diversity is critical – having only individuals with a background in public health or only individuals with a biology background will likely hinder innovate solutions, especially if case is outside scope of all team members.
After teams have been finalized, teams should have clear conversation discussing allocation of time, work, and roles.
