The Fall 2025 DRP Application is open.
Before applying, please carefully read over the expectations for undergraduates as well as the frequently asked questions. A list of projects can be found here. Feel free to reach out to the program organizers: Simone Tetu, Phuc Lam, Yian Qian, or Victoria Antonetti
APPLICATION COMPONENTS
We ask for a list of all MATH, APMA, and CSCI courses each applicant has taken at Brown as well as the semester in which the course was taken. Applicants are free to list similar coursework done at other institutions.
Applicants are asked to list up to three projects that are of interest to them. You can view the full projects here as well as sample materials and suggested prerequisites for each project.
Recommended background: To broaden participation from students interested in applied mathematics, this year’s APMA DRP includes projects specifically designed for those with a lighter math background—namely projects (02), (07), and (08). If you are a first-year student or have taken only a few APMA/MATH/CSCI courses, we encourage you to prioritize these projects when applying, as they will provide the best opportunity for a rewarding and supportive DRP experience.
The statement of interest: The statement of purpose should address why you are interested in participating in the DRP. It should be no longer than 2 pages. You may wish to address any or all of the following: What are your motivations as an aspiring mathematician/engineer/scientist? What do you hope to learn from the DRP? What is your interest in your selected projects?
Deadline to apply: Applications will close at 11:59pm EST on Wednesday September 10th , 2025. Decisions will be sent out by the end of day on Sunday September 14th, 2025.
