Mission Statement

Brophy Literary & Arts Magazine is a student-run publication made with the intention of showcasing all forms of artistic work produced by students. It serves to exemplify the caliber of work produced by the Brophy community, and amplify the collective voice of our artists. BLAM hosts events throughout the year which allow students to showcase their work in interesting ways. We make an effort to collect work from students of all ages. These include events such as the Fine Arts Extravaganza and Poetry Out Loud. We also partner with various organizations on campus, such as English or Art classes and clubs, to obtain the best work possible produced by our student body.

submission policy

Brophy Literary and Arts Magazine (BLAM) accepts submissions through a Google form and solicits submissions using posters hung across campus and a BLAM social media page. Both literary and art contests for the magazine provide campus artists with opportunities to respond to prompts drafted by staff members. The top three winners of both art and literary contests receive prizes for their work, and the first place piece for each contest is guaranteed publication in the magazine. Staff members rate every piece they receive using a uniform rubric drafted by all staffers at the start of the year. Magazine staff members are not permitted to submit to contests, but can submit to general submissions for the final publication. There is no limit on the number of pieces that an artist or writer can submit to either the magazine or a contest, but a maximum of two pieces per artist or writer* can appear in the final magazine.

*Featured artists are allotted more than two pieces
