What is Reading Recovery?
Reading Recovery is a short-term one-on-one intervention for low-achieving first graders. This intervention is most effective when it is used as a supplement to effective classroom teaching.
How is the program set up?
Individual students receive a 30 minute lesson each school day with a specially trained Reading Recovery teacher. These lessons last between 12 to 20 weeks depending on each student's needs. As soon as a student can read within the average of his/her class and demonstrate that s/he can continue to achieve, lessons are discontinued and new students begin individual instruction.
