Building Leadership Among Science Teachers (BLAST)

The Building Leadership Among Science Teachers (BLAST) program is a five-year professional learning and leadership initiative designed to develop outstanding K–8 science educators into influential teacher leaders across South Carolina. Supported through the National Science Foundation's Noyce program, BLAST brings together 28 accomplished elementary and middle school science teachers who are committed to strengthening science teaching and learning in their schools and districts.

Through leadership institutes, collaborative learning experiences, personalized coaching, online professional development, and opportunities to present at national conferences, BLAST participants deepen their expertise in science instruction while building the knowledge and skills needed to lead meaningful educational change. As they grow into mentors, professional learning facilitators, and advocates for high-quality science education, BLAST Master Teacher Fellows help expand the network of science teacher leaders and create lasting impacts on science education throughout the region.
