The UKSC is a body representing the interests of those most intimately concerned with the education and training of Specialist Community Public Health Nurses (SCPHN). It consults with the NMC, appropriate Government departments and other professional bodies throughout the United Kingdom.
Meetings of the UKSC are held at least 3 times a year. The Conference is representative of all SCPHN education and training centres in the United Kingdom. Although formerly specifically about health visiting, UKSC provides a collaborative forum for all disciplines within the SCPHN part of the NMC register whilst each retains its own unique identity.
The Conference has a unique function as a forum for discussion and exchange of information and ideas, bringing together activities and research from the four countries. There is an opportunity for representatives to share their knowledge and experience of both theoretical and practical matters and on occasions experts are invited to meetings to introduce current research and issues on which to form a basis for discussions.
