Professional Scientists' Recollections of their Creative Educational Experiences

Please use the side navigation bar to navigate this website or use the hyperlinks (pink buttons) below. You may need to click on the three parallel bars top left to find the side navigation menu.

This website has been designed to help teachers appreciate what creative educational experiences look like from the trained scientist's perspective.

24 professional scientists (see photos above), who had published 15 peer reviewed papers in the last 6 years, from three geographical locations (Oxford, Manchester and London Universities) were interviewed about their creative educational experiences. Soundbites from these interviews can be found throughout this website.

The subsequent pages of this website will illustrate self-reported creative experiences from the scientists primary, secondary school and university days, as well as any out-of-school activities and family interests or science capitol that supported their future career aspirations (see i-iii below). Additionally, their opinions about school science policy and practice are also illustrated (see iv below).

This will be achieved by considering to following:

ii. What school experiences (primary, secondary and at university) appear to have been influential? (click here)

iii. What experiences beyond school appear to have been influential? (click here)
