Joint honours students taking a combination of the above subjects
Below is the list of key events you will attend during induction week, but some subjects may have additional events not listed here. Please consult your induction schedule for the full list of events you are expected to attend.
Led by Academic staff from your chosen subject, this session will give you an overview of the course and will introduce you to your fellow students, your academic programme team and Student Support Coordinator. You will also meet Student Ambassadors who are already studying at Brookes.
This is a 50 minute interactive session introducing you to your subject of study in more detail. You will have the opportunity to meet your tutors and spend more time with your fellow students during this session. Every subject is unique so if you are a joint honours student please make sure you attend both sessions.
Some of these sessions may be off campus, please check the Off Campus Events page for more information.
Your course sits within either the School of Law and Social Sciences, or the School of Education, Humanities and Languages. In this session you will meet staff from across the school and students from other courses.
An opportunity for you to meet fellow students from across your School. Join us for tea, coffee and pastries or biscuits.
Taking place at various times on Friday 19th September in the Terrace, John Henry Brookes Building, Headington Campus. Please see your course induction schedule for timings.
Unless your modules are all compulsory (you will be told about this in the first session) you will need to choose and register modules for semester two.
The Student Support Coordinators (SSCs) will be running Module Registration drop-in sessions in Gibbs G110 at the following times:
Wednesday 17th September - 1 pm to 4 pm
Thursday 18th September - 10 am to 4 pm
Friday 19th September - 10 am to 4 pm
These sessions are designed to support you with registering modules onto your Student Information page, not to help you make a decision, so please come to the session having decided which modules you would like to add.
You only need to attend one session to add your modules.
The SSCs will also hold office hours during induction week if you need any further support.
Joint honours students take a combined degree in two different subjects, for example Anthropology and Geography.
If you are a joint honours student you will have two induction schedules, one for each subject. You must look at both subjects to determine your schedule for the week. You will need to attend the following:
Course welcome and introduction for both subjects
Taster session for both subjects
One School welcome talk - if two different sessions are listed you should only attend one
One welcome social - if two different sessions are listed you should only attend one
A module registration helpdesk
