¿Qué es hogar para sus niños?

El Hogar Para Sus Niños (HPSN) is a non-governmental, non-profit and private organization that welcomes children at risk either due to circumstances of abandonment or child abuse.

At HPSN they ensure that all their kids get an integral development, as well as the respect and fulfillment of their rights. For each child, they develop specialized care, focusing that every need is evaluated and addressed as a priority, providing psychological and spiritual support, medical care, psycho-pedagogical care, education, legal advice, among others.

Today the HPSN has two headquarters, one in Quito and the other in Latacunga, housing a total of 57 children, in a warm and happy environment, where they prioritize playful development and home to the children who live with us.

Our experience

Nuestra Experiencia.

During the visits to the foundation I could see how the children were becoming more comfortable with us, this was very touching as it felt like I was making an impact in their lives.

I also realized how much work the foundation does because they not only take care of the children but also to their surroundings.

I have a lot of respect for the "tias" or TAs in charge and it was one of the reasons that I did all my best.

At the beginning of this experience, I honeslty thought that these kids wouldnt have they joy the did, they would be not playfull and constantly crying. I was proved wrong, they may not exactly know their circumstance but being apart from their families is a challenge and they have faced it amaizingly. Not only did it content me to help these children, but also the Tias. Now i am able to understand how dedicated and sacrificed one must be to take on a job like this and i admire it. It was s true delight working with these suprevisors.

This is an experience that i would definitely repeat if i had the chance and i do look forward of participating and helping in anything that i can for HOGAR PARA SUS NINOS. A truly touching experience.

It was my first time to go to the orphanage. The kids call women who take care of them "aunt." First, an aunt showed us the whole grounds of the orphanage. There are two sectors for babies and for kids. To enter the sector of babies we had to take off our shoes and wash our hands carefully.

Second, I went to the section of the larger kids aged 3 to 5 years old. I read books with a boy and later played puzzle with two boys including him. I felt they spoke fewer than kids that I had met before, so I tried to speak to them as much as possible. By taking advice from an aunt "It doesn't matter in which language to speak to them", I used my native language, Japanese. At first I thought Japanese doesn't make sense to them at all, however, they looked like they understood my feelings and enjoyed talking to them rather than trying to speak in Spanish before. Little by little they opened their minds and one girl came to smile at me. I was ecstatic and wanted them to live everyday with a smile.
