Curriculum Overview

Dear Parents/Carers,

Thank you for your continued support and partnership throughout the year. As we begin Block Five, we are excited to continue this positive journey with you and your child, building on the progress they have made so far.

During this block, Year 1 children will further develop the strong foundations they have already established. Our focus remains on nurturing curiosity, confidence, and independence across all areas of learning. The Block Five curriculum has been carefully designed to provide a rich and balanced experience in English and Mathematics, while also offering engaging opportunities in Science, History, PSHE, and the Arts.

In response to parent feedback, we are pleased to announce that Year 1 will now have swimming every week from 16th March until the end of term. We will carefully monitor pupil participation and engagement during this period to evaluate the impact and success of this approach.

Throughout Block Five, children will be encouraged to make meaningful connections in their learning, ask questions that deepen their understanding, and express their ideas with increasing confidence.
