Block 5 & 6 – Striking and Fielding/Gymnastics
In the striking and fielding unit, students will experience working with a variety of equipment and to develop individual skills leading to co-operative play. In all game's activities, pupils will learn core skills relevant to striking and fielding games, including sending, receiving, batting and bowling & chasing. They will learn the basic rules and terminology associated with striking and fielding games.

In the gymnastics unit, Children will be introduced to basic gymnastics concepts such as body positions, jumps, rolls, and balances. Children will practice exercises that help them develop coordination and control, such as skipping, hopping, and jumping. They will learn to move their bodies in a coordinated and controlled manner.

Pupils will follow the BSC Swim stage. These 8 stages are based on best practice from the England Swimming Association. Swimming and water safety instruction is a statutory requirement under the English National Curriculum for Physical Education with the aim of all pupils being able to swim 25m continuously, using a range of different strokes as well as being able to perform a self-rescue by the end of Year 6.
