Grades, Promotion, and Summer School
District Policies and Promotion Requirements
A student will pass a full course if he/she earns an overall average of a 60% (D) or higher for the Final Grade (overall average of four marking periods).
A student will fail a full year course if he/she earns an overall average below 60% for the Final Grade (overall average of four marking periods)
A student who fails more than one core class must attend Summer School and must pass that subject(s) or they will be retained in their current grade. Core classes include
Language Arts
Math
Science
Social Studies
Specials (students must pass 3 out of their 4 quarterly Special classes for the school year)
Physical Education/Music (student must pass 1 of the 2 classes for the school year)
Summer School-
Information about summer school will be posted at the end of the school year. If you are concerned that you/your student is in danger of failing for the school year, please contact your (student's) assigned guidance counselor.
First & Second Honors
First Honors: Overall Term GPA as listed on iCampus, between 95-100% (without any grades <80.0%).
Second Honors : Overall Term GPA as listed on iCampus, between 90-94.9% (without any grades <80.0%).
Athletic Eligibility Requirement
Failing 2 or more classes: Student athletes may not practice or compete in any sport.
Failing 1 class: Student athletes may not compete in any event, but may practice with the team.
Student athletes may return to competition and/or practice once failing grade is lifted.
