College, Career and Military Readiness
BRISD has high expectations of all students. In addition to passing all 5 STAAR End of Course exams in Biology, English I, English II, Algebra I, and U.S History, the district provides multiple opportunities for students to become college, career or military ready. All students are expected to reach one of the following indicators prior to graduation.
SAT scores: 480 EBRW and 530 Math
ACT scores:
Tests taken on or before Feb. 14, 2023 - A student with an ACT Composite Score of 23 (or higher) is exempt from TSI Math with an ACT Math score of 19 (or higher) even though the ACT English may be less than 19. A student with an ACT Composite Score of 23 (or higher) is exempt from TSI ELAR with an ACT English score of 19 or higher, even though the Math may be less than 19. Scores must be less than 5 years old.
Tests taken on or after Feb. 15, 2023 - (less than 5 years old) A student with a Math score of 22 or higher is exempt from TSI Math even if the student does not meet the English/Reading requirement. A student with a combined English and Reading score of 40 or higher is exempt from the TSI ELAR even if the student does not meet the Math requirement.
TSI scores: 351 Reading and 350 Math and Essay score of 4 with placement score of 340 OR Essay score of 5 with ABE at least 4 and placement < 340
TSIA 2 scores:
ELAR: CRC 945—990 w/ essay 5-8 or CRC <945 and a Diagnostic score greater than or equal to 5 with an essay score greater than or equal to 5
MATH: CRC 950-990 or CRC <950 and a Diagnostic of 6
Completion of 9 or more hours of dual credit in any subject
Completion of 3 hours of dual credit in English Language Arts or Math
Earn an industry certification and complete a program of study.
Enlist in a United States military branch. Must submit a copy of DD-Form 4 papers.
Complete both College Prep English and College Prep Math courses.
Along with these criteria, Blue Ridge ISD graduates will complete and submit a free application for federal student aid (FAFSA) or a Texas application for state financial aid (TASFA) or the appropriate opt out form.
