A little bit about me: I graduated from Brimfield High School in 1985 as valedictorian. I went to ICC and then ISU. I taught high school math for several years in Greenview, Peoria Christian, Avon, and VIT. For a few years, I also taught developmental math at Carl Sandburg College. Interspersed throughout all of this, I married my husband, Jim, became a mom to Elizabeth and Joshua, and did many other things. While substitute teaching, I met several amazing women who piqued my interest in becoming a Reading Specialist. That prompted me to get my master's in Reading from Western Illinois University where I graduated in 2016.

My family and I made the transition back to Brimfield for the 2016-2017 school year when I also made the switch from math to English.

I LOVE to read books and talk about them with others. You can really get to know someone when talking about the books they are reading. One of my favorite things to do is to talk with students about what they're reading and to get them to apply what they've learned through books.
