Grading Policies:
Participation/Professionalism: On a weekly basis students will be graded for their involvement in class activities and their display of workplace appropriate characteristics as outlined in the attached rubric.
Papers and Essays: Students will be assigned quarterly, APA-formatted research papers. Papers shall be submitted in a digital format as instructed by the teacher.
Quarterly Tests: At the end of each grading period the students will take a cumulative test regarding material taught during the quarter.
Classwork: Students must complete all writing assignments and activities given during the class period. All students must maintain a spiral notebook in which they keep their writing assignments and other class activities. Worksheets must be kept in the student’s binder. Classwork is due at the end of class. If a student has made an attempt to complete the work but runs out of class time, then the work must be returned at the start of the next class period.
Projects: During the year students will complete multiple research projects, such as PowerPoint presentations or other visual displays. Each project will be graded according to a rubric.
Additionally, at the end of each grading period students will complete a “Current Event” presentation in which they collect news stories related to the major topics covered in the grading period.
Practicals/Graded Scenarios: During the year students will participate in hands-on activities designed to measure specific skills. Each scenario will be graded according to a rubric.
Quizzes: Quizzes are given on a regular interval at the end of subtopics. They will consist of multiple choice, short answer and fill-in the blank questions. They will be graded on an A to F scale.
Exams: An exam will be administered at the end of each semester. Exams count for 20% of the final grade. Both the Mid-Term (10%) and Final Exam (10%) will consist of a hands-on practical and a written test. Each part will be equally weighted.
