I’m Jen, an occupational therapist and the founder of Bridge Therapy Services. I live in Fredericksburg, Virginia, with my husband and two dogs. Most of my time outside of work is spent gardening, cooking, reading, walking, and spending time with family and friends. We have a big garden that has been rewarding to cultivate year after year, even if in a messy and imperfect way.
I earned my clinical doctorate in occupational therapy from Virginia Commonwealth University 6 years ago. Since then I've been working with children and families at a local sensory-based therapy clinic. As an OT, I've learned to stay curious, question my assumptions, and appreciate how much it matters to feel understood. Along the way, I've also learned about my own sensory and executive functioning needs.
Working with neurodivergent families, I saw a need for more services specifically designed for neurodivergent adults. The demands of daily life change as we get older, but most of us still need support. I realized that occupational therapy is uniquely suited to help meet that need, and that inspired the creation of Bridge.
