• Can the student provide critical insight and unique perspectives about advanced literary reading passages in Spanish?
• Can the student synthesize their knowledge of Spanish grammar to express complex thoughts and feelings?
• Can the student construct coherent and complex compositions in both academic and creative styles?

Guiding Question — Culture

• Can the student show a knowledge of the modern Hispanic literature style, while aiding his/her real desire for self-expression?

• Proficiency in a foreign language is a vehicle to gaining knowledge that will enrich students' world view.
• In order to be understood by others, students must be able to pronounce, choose words correctly, and respond appropriately in Spanish.
• Using proper grammar and structure will allow students to better communicate themselves in a variety of mediums (reading, writing, & speaking).
• Learning about the workings of other cultures will help the students to expand their cultural horizons.
• Different linguistic structures communicate different meaning.
• Spanish story telling has a long and rich history with its own distinct forms.
