Through this course students will learn the essential ideology necessary to succeeding as a working artist in the entertainment industry. Students will gain Media Literacy skills necessary to dissect and analyze artwork. Students will learn how to set ambitious but reasonable standards for themselves, and rise to meet them. They will learn the necessity of good community stewardship and artistic collaboration. Students will also grasp the Philosophy of Growth necessary to gain and maintain professional skills.
Through this class students will be introduced to Critical Visual Analysis, and through learning to look at work critically, will gain other necessary design skills. Students are taken through the steps of identifying and following through on design prompts and templates, and will gain a greater mastery of fine motor skills in order to visually communicate more effectively.
All students who complete this course will have their work published in the Apprentice Comics anthology. Students will have created a comic of their own design, up to their personal standards. All students will receive a physical copy of their work, printed and published to professional quality.
