The news has been packed recently about Portland Public Schools proposals of Right Sizing our school District.
It's alot to take in, and there are many emotions and opinions across the city. All of which are valid and welcome.
While the PTA can't take an official stance on the issue of Right Sizing: we can provide our community with information and
opportunities to learn more and engage in ways that feel right for families.
If you have District wide information you would like included here - or specific ways BCSS families are connecting that you would like shared, please let us know.

'Portland Public Schools is undertaking a districtwide rightsizing process to better align our schools, programs, and resources with the needs of today’s students and the realities shaping our future.' - quote pulled from the PPS District website as how they are describing the process.
What does this mean for BCSS?
Under both proposed Scenario's A & B - BCSS would retain its combination of neighborhood school & focus option lottery status, but we would transition from a K-8 to a K-5. Loosing our mid-level program.
As it is proposed now, our departing mid-level students would have the choice to attend Harrison Park Middle School or their neighborhood middle school.
