Welcome to 2nd Grade

We are excited to start a new year with new smiling faces, new ideas and new friendships! We will be working hard to accomplish important skills and goals. If we work together, we can accomplish these goals.

Dress: Please send your child dressed appropriately for the weather and for the school’s dress code. Students who are not dressed in accordance with the school dress code will be required to call home so that a change of clothing can be brought to him/her.  The school dress code can be found in your parent handbook.

Grading: Bridge uses a standards-based mastery grading structure for all students. Classwork, assignments and PLP goal activities will be used to help students achieve mastery on second grade skills. Final grades will be posted at the end of each term. Students on an IEP or with 504 Accommodations will receive the modification and accommodations listed in their IEP or 504 Plans.

Birthdays:  We will be singing and giving each child a small gift for their birthdays. August birthdays will be celebrated at the beginning of the school year and June and July birthdays will be celebrated at the end of the school year. 

Sunshine Student of the Week: Each child will have the opportunity to be Student of the Week. The home room teacher will select the student on Friday and send home a poster for them to decorate and bring back on Monday. Student's of the Week get to be line leader, use swivel chairs in class, and bring a show and tell on Friday. They will be sharing their poster on Friday.

Behavior: We use a school-wide “Watch Me Learn” reward program. Students will attend a Watch Me Learn store on Fridays where they can turn in their tickets for prizes from our class store or tokens for prizes in the office.

You will be notified for continuous unacceptable behavior by email or the Talking Points app. We encourage you to be involved in your child’s education.
