Dear Parents and Students,

My name is Mrs. Fego and I will be your third grade teacher. This year I will be teaching you Math, Science/STEM (Project Lead the Way) and Social Studies. Your ELA (English Language Arts) teacher will be Mrs. Mooney. Both Mrs. Mooney and I will be doing many exciting lessons and projects that will engage and challenge you in your learning throughout the year. We are going to have a great time together!

Here is a little information about me:

I have been a member of the Brewster community for over 20 years. I have three children who have attended the Brewster schools. My oldest daughter, Samantha, graduated from SUNY Purchase and is a Social Media Manager. Samantha was a Brewster High School graduate. My daughter, Emily, is in her junior year at SUNY New Paltz as a Journalism major with minors in Creative Writing and Communications. Emily also graduated from Brewster High School. My son, Anthony, graduated from Brewster High School in June and will be attending Virginia Tech as an Engineering major. I have volunteered in many organizations in Brewster over the years and continue to be an active participant in the community.

I have been teaching in the Brewster Central School District since I graduated from SUNY New Paltz in 2012. I started in Brewster as a substitute teacher for grades K-8. Then, I was hired as an Academic Intervention Support for Mathematics Teacher for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders at C.V. Starr. I spent a year as a second grade teacher at J.F.K. and this is my fifth year as a third grade teacher at C.V. Starr. My focus in our class this year will be to create or enhance your love of Math, STEM and Social Studies; to help you become problem-solvers, great communicators and collaborators as well as critical thinkers. We will also work together to develop an understanding of what it means to be a positive and contributing member of a learning community.

The staff at C.V. Starr has been working very hard all summer to prepare for the opening of school and we are all looking forward to welcoming you to C.V. Starr on September 4th. To get you prepared for the new school year, you will find a copy of the Third Grade Supply List under the "Supply List" tab. These supplies will be tools that will help you learn to organize your work.

I am positive that we will all grow and learn during this year. My goal is to motivate and encourage you to be the best student and person you can be and to help you grow to reach your full potential. This challenge will only be met with the cooperation of three parties – YOU the student, your parents, and me. What a great team!
