Step by step on building the Newton's cradle:
st: Gather all materials previously stated on the last slide
nd: Drill nails into wood to create a secure square base for the cradle, and start hot gluing popsicle sticks to the corners of the base, facing up like pillars to hold the cradle up.
rd: Hot glue two more popsicle sticks across the top of the flat side of the popsicle sticks next to each other so it creates a wall. From there, you then glue two more on top, opposite to the previous two popsicle sticks that were glued down, creating a cube shape which is the ideal shape for a general Newton's cradle.
th: Once the base of the cradle is constructed, I cut 6 pieces of string, and through trial and error was able to come up with the perfect size of string that is needed to hold the marbles at a perfect height. After the string was cut, 6 marbles were hot glued in the middle of each piece.
th: After each piece of string dried with the marble in the middle, I taped one side of the string to one side of the popsicle stick laying flat on the cube that was constructed, and the other side of the strings to the other popsicle stick. The distance between each piece of string that was taped down depended on how close the marbles were rested next to one another. In order to have a successful Newton's cradle, the marbles need to be touching slightly, all at the same height. To ensure that all of the string was securely taped down on the popsicle stick, I put hot glue over the tape and glued down another popsicle stick on each side.
th: After letting everything dry down, the cradle was ready to be used.
