What to Expect

Sakai

Sakai will used heavily by your instructor, as will email. Expect to check Sakai often. You will probably find it beneficial to view these Sakai tutorials to become familiar with how to get the most out of Sakai.

Live Online Interaction

Some faculty (though not all) will be using online live interactive sessions with students attending online during their regular class time. Your instructor will let you know if they are asking students to meet through a video chat tool such as Google Meet or Zoom. Both tools are accessible through computers or phones.

Anytime Classroom Access

Most classrooms will be set up so students can access class material and complete the required work at whatever time works best for them. Be aware that assignments will still have deadlines and in order to be successful, you will need to log into your class often throughout the week.

Attendance

You will still be responsible for attending online classes, just as you are responsible for going to class when you are on campus. "Attendance" when you are online involves doing the work your instructor has assigned.
