If your instructor decides to have live online sessions, these will happen at your regular classroom meeting time. Please keep in mind that North Carolina is on Eastern Standard Time. Your instructor may also provide instructions to contact them through Google Meet, Google Hangouts, or Zoom.
Both Google Hangouts Meet and Zoom have apps that you can download from your app store if you plan on accessing these through a cell phone.
Google Meet: Here's a quick video intro to the tool. View this tutorial for Google Hangouts Meet.
Zoom: View this tutorial for setting up Zoom. Important: For Zoom account creation, use the "Sign in with Google" option and use your Brevard Google account. This will give you access to more tools than a regular free account.
You can email any student through your Brevard email account. For group collaboration, you will probably find it best to use Google Hangouts Meet or Zoom. Students can initiate their own sessions.
You will still be responsible for attending online classes, just as you are responsible for going to class when you are on campus. "Attendance" when you are online involves doing the work your instructor has assigned.
The Experiential Learning Commons (ELC) is still committed to serving Brevard College students during this time. Although in-person appointments with our learning consultants won’t be possible due to CDC guidelines of social distancing, you can still make appointments with our consultants to view and review your homework through asynchronous digital consulting.
