Only a few spots remain in specific age groups.
Seventh graders will stay together as a cohort throughout the week, fostering a strong sense of community and teamwork. This experience will help them build relationships while preparing for the opportunity to become a TA next year.
1st Block:
Friday: Rising 7th graders will shadow another TA to learn hands-on what it will be like next year as a TA!
2nd Block:
Cryptography: The Science of Secret Messages
Do you love solving puzzles and uncovering secrets? In this class, we will learn about the science of secret messages. We will use classic ciphers like the Caesar cipher to encrypt secret messages, learn how recognizing patterns can be used to break those codes, and show how some simple everyday math is used to hide our messages from prying eyes on the internet. Through hands-on challenges and teamwork, you'll learn how to become both a codemaker and a codebreaker! Are you ready?

3rd Block:
Coding the Real World
It's time to take your code off the screen and into the physical world! In this exciting class, we'll start with fun, hands-on activities to easily grasp programming concepts. Then, in small groups, you'll dive into the world of microcontrollers using Arduino to build projects that actually interact with you—programming your own lights, buttons, and motors! No prior coding experience is needed to jump right in, but if you've already conquered environments like Scratch, you'll find plenty of engaging new challenges. Bring your curiosity and get ready to see your code come to life!
