Mr. Simmons was born and raised in Vineland, a city in southern New Jersey. He graduated from Vineland High School in 1986 before continuing his education at Glassboro State College (now Rowen University) in New Jersey. He transferred to West Chester University of Pennsylvania where he earned an Associates Degree in Instructional Media and a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education.
He married and moved to Bremerton where he began his teaching career at Kitsap Lake Elementary School, teaching second grade. Once Mountain View Middle School was built, Mr. Simmons transferred into a position as the Learning Resource Specialist. While working as the LRC Specialist, Mr. Simmons earned his Masters Degree in Educational Technology from City University. An opportunity opened for Mr. Simmons to return to the classroom teaching sixth grade. Since returning to the classroom, Mr. Simmons has taught English, Western Civilizations, Ancient History, Washington State History, Mathematics, technology, keyboarding, and TV Production. During the 2007-2008 school year, Mr. Simmons returned as the Learning Resource Specialist and continued in that position until the end of the 2019-2020 school year. He now teaches 8th grade U.S. History.
Mr. Simmons lives in Bremerton with his wife and has two children who are currently a biologist in Montana and student at Washington State University. He enjoys being a father and husband and spending time with friends and family, as well as making home improvements, woodworking, model making, o scale trains, and camping.
