World History is a required, sophomore-level Social Studies class at BHS that focuses on modern world history. Students will develop an understanding of world history, seeing how geography, religion, economics, government, and culture affect development. Current events and current issues will also be explored. Students will learn about different ways of looking at world issues, analyzing and comparing different world views and perspectives.
This class will span the historical time period of 1400 – present. We will study units about global expansion and encounter, the age of revolutions, international conflicts, the development of new nations, and challenges to democracy and human rights.
1st Semester: 1400 - 1900
2nd Semester: 1900- present
